Vitamin B Can Prevent Visual Impairment

Nutrients necessary for healthy eyes was not just vitamin A. In order for vision do not get interference, we also need to take vitamin B.


A study in Boston, United States reveals, consumption of vitamin B can prevent the decline in visual ability. In the study, respondents were asked to consume a combination of vitamin B-6, folic acid, and B-12. The result, the risk of visual impairment in their eyes diminished.


William Christen of the Harvard-affiliated Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston who became head of research said, women over the age of 40 years will experience a decreased ability eyes. For example, blurred vision, foggy like symptoms of cataracts, the eye is more sensitive to light, and so on.


Eye disorders that can only been done with laser methods. But now it can be prevented by taking vitamin B intensively from a young age.


Consumption of vitamin B could be the first step to reduce the risk of vision problems,” said Christen.


He added, was still too early to call vitamin B as a drug to cope with visual impairment. But there’s no harm in taking B vitamins according to the recommended dose of nutritionists to reduce the risk of visual impairment.


Christen recommends vitamin B and folic acid from natural food ingredients, such as beef, poultry, cereals, nuts, and high-fiber vegetables such as spinach and pea.
